Fantastic start for PANO in Cameroon

"We were highly impressed by this new device and its revolutionary design," says ophthalmologist Dr Jonas Njikam in Foumban, Cameroon. He has been using the Perimeter PANO for a few months in his eye clinic in western Cameroon and his first experiences and those of his staff have been very positive.

"The glaucoma patients have a desire to be examined with an automatic perimeter, so the clinic decided to upgrade its equipment," explains Dr Njikam. As a result, working with PANO even meant they could win back patients they had lost to other clinics with automated perimeters.

The big advantage of PANO is that it delivers similar results to a Humphrey device, but is specifically designed for conditions in low-income countries and is offered at cost price. Yet there is no compromise in terms of quality of results and comfort.

As the number of glaucoma patients in developing countries increases, so does the demand for functional glaucoma diagnostics. However, in low-income countries, the diagnosis and regular check-ups of glaucoma are a major challenge. The equipment is often expensive and difficult to maintain. This is why PANO was developed: A robust and cost-effective device for the detection and follow-up of visual field defects.
